About Us
TTL is a group that is part of the worldwide Transition Network and seeks to tackle the twin
challenges of climate change and peak oil locally.
Climate Change
The world - its temperature, its sea-level, its deserts, its weather - is changing. Can we slow the process down or even reverse it by changing our behaviour?
Peak Oil
Oil will never be as readily available again. We haven't run out but it is going to become harder and harder to source. We are completely dependent on this increasingly endangered commodity...... Can we become resilient to an impending oil drought?
Transition
The 'Transition' model asks communities to find a solution locally. Can we protect ourself against an oil shortage by creating local networks, setting up car pools, adapting our housing, affecting local authority decisions etc etc? We hope so......

TTL Domestic Solar Scheme
You may have heard about the Department of Energy & Climate Change's sudden decision to slash the feed in tariff (FITs) incentive scheme for solar PV for all systems fitted after December 12th 2011. Their proposal is to reduce it from 43.3p to 21p per unit of power generated.
This has left the industry reeling and if it goes ahead, it is likely to effect the viability of both our domestic and community solar scheme proposals. Read more...
Groups
Each group will be running its own page as they grow. But, at present, do not be surprised if there is little more than a contact details. We have only just started formally recognising these different sub-goups of TTL. We are sure things will really develop once a few more people join the party. Please do not hesitate to contact the group leaders to find out more or to get involved.
TTL Steering
There are 8 of us who meet every few weeks to try and make plans, and co-ordinate our efforts. If you are interested in joining us, or fancy coming to one of our meetings, please get in touch.
A parent and toddler group that meets every month to share tips, help the TT movement, and put together initiatives. In the pipeline - an aTotment.
Let's all get solar panels, better still, let's all get funding to get solar panels! We are working up an proposal for a community-based solar energy scheme using large flat roof areas. Plus a community bulk-purchase schemes.
This group is interested in all things food related - community orchards, where to find local produce, food exchange schemes, apple pressing......
The process of changing our lives is difficult. This group looks at how we can support ourselves and others to make this transition.
Transport
Who wants a car share scheme in Letchworth? Who wants better cycle paths? Who wants to see buses running more frequently (and more frequented)? The Transport Group! Get in touch to find out more.
Materials ("Waste")
We try to waste less, yet valuable materials are still being thrown out all the time. Hertsfordshire WithOut Waste (HertsWOW) is a shared subgroup serving as an information 'hub' for community groups and the powers-that-be, by promoting an Alternative Solution to landfill & incineration.
