TTL is a group that is part of the worldwide Transition Network and seeks to tackle the twin
challenges of climate change and peak oil locally.
The world - its temperature, its sea-level, its deserts, its weather - is changing. Can we slow the process down or even reverse it by changing our behaviour?
Oil will never be as readily available again. We haven't run out but it is going to become harder and harder to source. We are completely dependent on this increasingly endangered commodity...... Can we become resilient to an impending oil drought?
The 'Transition' model asks communities to find a solution locally. Can we protect ourself against an oil shortage by creating local networks, setting up car pools, adapting our housing, affecting local authority decisions etc etc? We hope so......

TTL Domestic Solar Scheme
You may have heard about the Department of Energy & Climate Change's sudden decision to slash the feed in tariff (FITs) incentive scheme for solar PV for all systems fitted after December 12th 2011. Their proposal is to reduce it from 43.3p to 21p per unit of power generated.
This has left the industry reeling and if it goes ahead, it is likely to effect the viability of both our domestic and community solar scheme proposals. Read more...
QUALITY OR QUANTITY?
Over soup, bread and jam, a group of us gathered together on Sunday 8th November to discuss how to approach Christmas. How not to succumb to commercialism? How to buy sustainably produced gifts without overspending? How to change one's family's gift-giving traditions to be more respectful of the world's resources? And above all - how to do all this without upsetting anyone, without losing that special feeling of giving our loved ones presents that they will cherish? Here are some ideas and some pledges we made to ourselves. We hope they help you and we wish you all a very
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Plan really carefully to prevent last minute guilt induced buys.
Talk to your family about your intentions. Engage them and ask them what they think.
Buy edible gifts - and better still buy local.
Use charity shops, particularly for children's toys (although forewarn perhaps first).
Be aware of guilt playing tricks on you. Remind yourself of the point of it all.
Buy gifts that don't last ie theatre tickets or membership to interest groups.
Buy a charity gift and supplement with a small handmade gift like sweets or some photos.
Give firm instructions about what you would like.
Give in a different way - by cooking a big feast, spending extra time with grandchildren etc.
